Every year, thousands of immigrants come to the United States. These immigrants are from all around the world, legal and illegal. The goal is the same, these immigrants are looking for a better life; they could be looking for work, escaping a war that is tearing their country apart, or just wanting to give their family more security that the United States offers. Immigrants are drawn to the US because they feel it is a great place to live, because of the benefits, protection, and freedom. Benefits like welfare, having one of the greatest militaries for protection, and a government that grates freedom to its’ citizen’s. Because of this large number, one third of America's population growth is due to immigration. In this annual one million that make their way in about two-hundred thousand of them are illegal aliens. Illegal aliens are troublesome to America. They have a very negative effect on welfare as well as hospitals and other medical facilities. Taxpayers are the ones who give up some of their well earned money to pay for these illegal aliens needs. Illegal immigrants receive education, healthcare, with other benefits due to taxpayer dollars. Taxpayers also need to pay for schools to be built due to the massive number of legal immigrants coming into the states as well. The more immigrants that come into the United States the more resources that need to be used. Problems include the following: the water isn’t suitable for drinking, air is being polluted by more cars and factories, wildlife and other food sources are diminishing, and ecosystems are being harmed. Forest are being deplenished because of the need for lumber to build houses for these millions of immigrants. There are myriad possible problems with forests being stripped. This is why the number of immigrants being allowed into the United States needs to be monitored. Overpopulation is not only affecting big cities it is also affecting small communities.
