b. The half-circle around both of the goals, usually marked with spray paint on the field, is called the crease. This is equivalent to the goalie box in hockey; only one person, usually the goalie, can be in it at a time. If one of the defenders steps over this line, the other team automatically gets possession.
c. Dangerous checking is a problem that is more prominent in women’s lacrosse because of the lack of safety equipment. In lacrosse, there is an imaginary sphere around your head which protects other players from hitting you in the face. Dangerous checking, or slashing, is usually called when another player gets inside of your “sphere”, and a referee catches it.
Transition: Now that we have learned about the game of lacrosse and how it is played, I will convey the types of equipment you need to play safely.

C. The equipment used in lacrosse is all used for a reason, and if not used properly it can cause major injuries.
1. Women have two main pieces of safety equipment: a pair of goggles and a mouth guard. a. The goggles are made of foam and metal. There is a metal cage that covers your eyes, cushioned by foam. They only cover your eyes; your nose is not protected. b. The mouth guard is just a standard plastic one, used in football and hockey. It protects your teeth if you were to get hit in
