Jackie Robinson was a man who transformed the world of sports for African
Americans around the globe. He started out as a player for the Negro Leagues in 1945 until a man named Branch Rickey recruited him to play for the Dodgers. He was the first African American to play in the MLB when he broke the color barrier on April 15th 1945. By doing this and persevering through unimaginable challenges, he became the idol he is today.
