1. Why do you feel it's important for black women to embrace their melanin?
To fix their mentality. We have been taught that we hate our skin and it triggers other negative actions. We try to change our skin color and stray away from our natural state. In order to have personal wellness you have to embrace your natural self.
2. What made you decide to create your website, jaiCurls.com? Also how do you feel it helps other women?
I understood when I was in middle school that I was meant to help other people. From personal wellness to taking care of your hair. I'm in the mental health field. Many people wanted to know how I did my hair. I wanted to create an arena where we can be unapologetically ourselves. It is a judge free zone for women to be themselves.

It is a big part of your inner self. It helps to establish your self love. If you are willing to accept the wildness of your hair, you can accept anything. I tried to go natural when I was a freshmen in college. My hair was very thin. My roomate was also natural. I tried to transition for six months. I became frustrated and ended up getting a perm. In 2012 my hair was short and thin and I wanted to have healthy hair again. I transitioned for a year. I ended up cutting all of my hair off. I fell in love with my hair. Many people didn't agree with my choice but I knew it was right for
