Late Adulthood and Death The final years of an individual's lifespan mark the time for reflection of one's life while also spending time with family, including grandchildren, and maintaining physical and mental health throughout the entire stage of late adulthood. An alteration in the habits an individual has can help curtail some of the negative effects that aging has on an individual, even later in their life (Berger, 2008). Berger states that the majority of chronic conditions or diseases that are connected to aging are very strongly influenced by an individual’s habits and daily practices throughout their life-span (Berger, 2008). The habits of an individual’s health are imperative to their wellness of a physical level (Berger, 2008). Detecting and maintaining things such as chronic conditions and diseases early on as well as making positive alterations to habits and daily routines and preventive medicine will aid in mitigating the negative effects of aging. An individual should be keeping a healthy diet, moderating their alcohol intake, and making sure they have an exercise routine. If they conjoined those things with making healthy decisions during late adulthood, they would make a large change in their health and wellness. Regular medical care from a good doctor or facility as well as preventive medicine can make a positive impact on maintaining one’s health and lessening the rough parts of aging.
