Attendance is a big reason why students aren't graduating, and the implication of later start times would decrease attendance issues drastically. When attendance issues decrease, students get better grades, and those grades help schools get more funding. When schools start to benefit students, students start to benefit the school. When schools start later, students tend to get more sleep. Students who get the correct amount of sleep tend to do better in school. It has been proven that sleep improves many different things that help students in school, like how “Good sleep improves your brain performance, mood, and health. Not getting enough quality sleep regularly raises the risk of many diseases and disorders. These range from heart disease and stroke to dementia” (“Good Sleep for Good Health”).
