March 1st, 1932, 8:30 pm Lindbergh Mansion, Hopewell, New Jersey.
Mary goes up the creaky stairs to put Charles Lindbergh Jr. to sleep. She opens the window a crack to allow air to circulate. She tucks the 20- month- old baby into bed and uses pins to hold the baby’s blanket down. Mary shuts the door and goes down stairs. Mr. Lindbergh comes home and eats dinner.
March 1st, 1932, 10:00 pm Lindbergh Mansion
Mary goes upstairs to check on the baby. She opens the door and shuts the open window. She then panics because she can not hear the baby breathing. She looks in the crib and does not see the baby. She tells Mr. Lindbergh and Mrs. Lindbergh and they called the police immediately .

Lindbergh go back to the mansion. Rider hears a rustling sound under the leaves. He looks down; nothing there. They continue walking hearing the crunching of the crisp leaves underneath their shoes. They get back to the mansion and open the door. Rider trips over a rock near the door and falls down.

Officer Henry was standing at the door with grave look on his face. I opened the door and the first question I had was where's my dad?
“That’s exactly what I wanted to tell you”, he said. “He went outside to search at a crime scene and tripped coming back into the Lindbergh Mansion”.
“The Lindbergh Mansion”, I screamed, “what could happen there?”
“That’s exactly what I was going to tell you, but first let us talk about your dad”.
“Alright”, I said. “Come in and have a seat.”
Officer Henry had a long discussion with me. He told me what happened to my dad and how he wanted me to take over for him.
“I know it might be hard for a 15- year old like you but he said that you were his only hope”.
“I’ll do it”, I said.
“Great I’ll meet you at the mansion in and hour”.
He opened the door and walked out. He got in his car and drove away.
My first stop was the hospital. I went there and asked to go to Rider Flynn’s room. I went up the stairs and went to room 222. I opened the door to find my dad laying down with his leg lifted up (it had a cast on it), a brace around his shoulder and a lot of band aids. I went and stood near him. I asked him how he was and how that I had to be at the mansion in 15 minutes. I said goodbye and told him that I hoped that he would feel
