In this assignment, I will write a two to three page paper titled “Logical Design, Part 1” whereas I am a recently hired consultant for ACME Global Consulting to procure requirements for a large database. In this scenario, “Logical Design, Part 1”, I will develop a database management systems to convince a set of clients of the benefits of using the Entity–Relationship model (E-R) in developing a database.

In addition, my management would like the following points addressed in my design: (1). List the advantages of a relational model specific to ACME Global Consulting. (2). Summarize the purpose of an Entity–Relationship Model (E-R) specific to ACME Global Consulting. (3). List and describe essential components of the model such as

Now that we have established that relational modeling is the most widely used, I will discuss the Entity-Relationship relational model. The benefit of the E-R model to Acme Global Consulting is that it can present a powerful database design for clients. Relational model will provide consultants the ability to implement a simple and flexible design and helps to verify the data requirements before proceeding towards actual implementation. This will also increase understanding with existing problems. E-R model is a high-level data modeling technique, which lay down a conceptual design for database. E-R model is comprised of a number of components such as entities, attributes, relationships, etc. For Acme Global Consulting, E-R model will help to provide a visual representation of data needs. The team of Acme Global Consulting will be able to clearly understand data requirements of the clients and can easily interact and discuss with them through visual representations so that data requirements can be verified before further steps. E-R model will increase communication and helps in integrating with relational database models. This concept will form the basis for future system database designs and make easy to convert clients using the E-R model.
