In his article "What secrets tell" Luc Sante declares that secrets have a far greater impact then we are set to believe. Sante develops this claim by using straightforward context to discuss the overall significance of secrets in today's society. Sante purpose is to enlighten the general public on everything there is to know about secrets has a whole and in deep depth in order to inquire the proper knowledge to grasp the overall topic. Sante uses a organization and historical illusion to convey his message and inquiry of secrets. Sante uses organization to properly structure his article. He organizes the essay into two parts, in the first part he goes into great death and detail into the different types of secrets. He does this by naming and explaining five different types of secrets. This sets the tone and gives people a great understanding of not just secrets as a whole, but the many different types of secrets one may indoor in their lifetime. In the second part, he summarizes the reason people need secrets and why one may keep or even reveal a secret. By doing so he gives people a in depth understanding of the subject first and then states how and why they effect peoples daily lives. Sante even goes to the extent to say without secrets “an important motor of life would be stopped, and the days would merge into a continuous blur”(7).
