His parents are divorced, and he lives with his mother including his two step brothers. Aidan crawled, walked alone, spoke his first words, and toilet trained all at normal child development stages. Another reason Aidan is eligible for services is his family has a variety of disabilities and impairments. Aidan was hospitalized for a head injury which could have caused a cognitive delay such as, Traumatic Brain Injury. Savage (1998) found that Traumatic brain injury is often cited as a cause of cognitive delays. Aidan's scores are considered below average in a variety of different areas. He also has the ability to find an object hidden under one of two cups. He has difficulty in the memorization of lines from movies or books and he did not attend to an activity when given the opportunity to select the hand that was hiding a small toy. This is a concern for the child's future growth in attention and memory. He is currently over one year behind in development of attention and memory. His memory and attention span may increase if he receives Early Intervention Services or Early Childhood Special Education
