Margaret Sanger's book, “Happiness in Marriage”, was largely touted as a marriage manual for the birth control movement in the United States. Sanger (1969) presents intimate and yet practical advice in the attainment of the ideal relationship. While marriage may have been synonymous with maternity, the suffering, pain, and wrecked lives of children and women caused by the system are clear signs that it has not been successful.
