The most obvious reason to keep marijuana use illegal is because it will cause a tremendous increase in drug users. If pot is legalized many people who didn’t use the drug before, will start using the drug only because it has become legal. The country will see an increase in marijuana abuse. The use of marijuana could also lead many Americans to start experimenting with other drugs. What will our country look like to other nations? We will not be taken serious and be seen as a bunch of hippies abusing drugs only to have a good time. That’s a reason why weed should remain illegal.
Secondly, if weed is legalized in the entire nation it would have a negative effect towards many families. Many parents will start neglecting their children, only to get high, “relax” and have a good time. This will increase many cps cases and cause many families to be separated if children are taken from their homes to be placed into facilities for foster care. Also there will be a huge increase in teen smokers because they will think it is ok to smoke pot since it is legal. What will the parents that once taught their children that marijuana was a bad thing to do, tell their children, if pot is legalized? I would not want to be in their shoes, it would be a tough situation for many parents out there, especially if they are dealing with rebellious teen. This is another reason why weed needs to stay illegal.
Last but not least marijuana
