In order to help out Marsden Pharmaceutical Company they’re five departments we need to look at before deciding what kind of incentive we need to put in place in order to increase productivity and decrease/ eliminate employee turnover and absenteeism. The groups we are going to look at are Managerial / non-sales employees, Manufacturing, Sales and the R&D and Marketing Department. According to Marsden Pharmaceutical Company their main profits are generated from drugs sold to Vets who then prescribe drugs to their patients and are purchase by pet owner. When it comes making profits and sales we need to first look at what the R&D / Marketing department is working on since a company cannot just sole rely on one product. The incentive plan for the manufacturing department should be to put in place profit-sharing since this stabilize the employment situation for worker who worked for the company for many years have dedicated themselves to the company and most likely not look for employment elsewhere. Not only have that but managers liked profit sharing because they have control over events that generate profits. This will not result in motivation to all workers so more incentives in the manufacturing department need to be put in place .For instance, benefits like 401k they have something to invest and the company will match what they put into it forming a retirement security .In order to motivate manufacturing employees an incentive such as piece work bonuses and gain sharing will help in the retention and motivation of worker. They provide exceptional productivity improvement, encouraged to earn individual bonuses for daily output beyond standards. Furthermore gainsharing motivates employees to improve productivity, quality, and eliminate accidents, improves product deliveries. But preform performance appraisals to see where they stand at and how good they are working in order to give the raises. A merit pay system will help them increase their performance and allow them to receive a raise by a certain percentage. To decrease employee turnover / absenteeism in this department we can monitor why they are not showing up and communicate with them. Find out if we need to change their schedules in order to be more flexible with them. Also create a positive environment for workers will help reduce absenteeism will encourage employees to show up to work. To reduce turnover see if employees are ready for advancement sometimes workers quit because they feel like they can advance and aren’t given the chance .Promotion help reduce turnover , these are a few ways we can help our staff to show up to work , increase their productivity and keep them
