The Mexican immigrant population is younger than the total foreign-born population, but older than the native-born population. In terms of averages, the median age of the Mexican immigrants was 41 years old. Comparing this to the other foreign born, the average age of Mexicans was 3 years less. 87% of these were of working age, between the years of 18 and 64.
Mexican immigrants were less likely to be proficient in English and speak English compared to other immigrants from the rest of the World. With a study taken in 2014, about 69% of Mexican immigrants who were over the age of 16, had limited English knowledge. Comparing this to the immigrants from the rest of the world, this is 16% more.
