In Richard Connell's short story, "The Most Dangerous Game", big game hunter Sanger Rainsford is tested in the following ways: strong vs the weak, the value of life, and becoming what he fears.
In the story when Rainsford fell off the yacht he was swimming the way he heard gunshots. When he got to land he was going through the woods and found that there was a castle. He arrived and the gates/doors opened and he saw a man standing with a revolver, he was about to get shot when a guy named General Zaroff told him to stand down. When Rainsford discovered the secret that General Zaroff hunts humans instead of animals. He starts to worry if he's safe to stay there or if he has to get off of the island to save himself. …show more content…
In addition to hiding, General Zaroff walks as if he was like a lion in his own kingdom. He continues on a trail but later realizes that General Zaroff is playing tricks on him and will hunt him tomorrow. He then knows he'll have to set traps on General Zaroff and Ivan (the long bearded man from the beginning of the story) and the dogs Zaroff send out so that no one escapes the island. Rainsford end up doing what he does want to do all along and that is to kill. The traps be set worked it killed the dogs and Ivan and severely wounded Zaroff in the traps. Rainsford end up killing Zaroff by sacrificing him to Zaroff`s fallen comrades, turning Rainsford info the monster he didn't want to be all along.
In conclusion, The story is made of twist and turns on who versus who or whom. While trying to survive in difficult situations the sense of urgency to conserve energy and to play the mental game on was really neat to how the story along. There was also a crazy way of how General Zaroff knew where Rainsford was hiding and him trying to get him to go exactly where Zaroff wanted Rainsford to go.the way the story played out was great.Impressively of how Rainsford handle his emotions toward Zaroff how incredible and not playing the game the way Zaroff wanted it to
