Nate’s impact on me, as well as other students at Cal Poly, has been large and longstanding. Before his class, I had little to no interest in physics. Because of his class, I’ve considered switching my major to physics or at least minoring in it. The only reason that I won't is that I have a greater interest in philosophy and humanities. Still, his class showed me the usefulness of physics in the real world. Nate Heston engages students to be interested in physics in ways that other professors don’t, including examples of storytelling, a good sense of humor, and an altruistic attitude.
