The story of Pandora’s Box was originally mentioned in a series of epic poems written by Hesiod. They were titled Theogony and Works and Days.
The story starts off with two Titan brothers, Prometheus and Epimetheus. They had angered the all mighty king of Olympus, Zeus, god of the sky. As punishment, he took away their ability to make fire, which was a major necessity in their lives because without it they could no longer keep warm or cook their meat. Prometheus attempted to out smart the gods, and stole fire from the blacksmith god, Hephaestus. By doing this, Prometheus beyond angered Zeus. The god created a young woman out of clay with the help of Hephaestus, and named her Pandora, which means “all gifted”. Athena, the goddess of war strategy
