The French Legion of Honor is the most prestigious medal given by the French people to an American. In France, they call it the Légion d'Honneur. This medal was created by Napoleon Bonaparte back in 1802. It is given to troops all around the world for, of course, being honored by France.

The day has come. Our awesome Papaw was about to get a reward that was very deserving. We got to meet John Boozman, who is a senator of the United States, which was pretty cool. He was the one that announced Papaw’s name when he got the medal itself. Papaw had on his Army uniform, and he was ready to go. There was a lady from France there that said a lot of things in French after Papaw was given the medal. So he got it, and it was immediately added to his uniform beside the rest of his 50+ medals. We were proud, proud as can be. Papaw was happy, happy as he can be.
My Papaw is an awesome guy. Of all the medals he has, he still deserves even more, because he’s just the family hero, and he saved people’s lives while in service. He helped fought in World War 2, and is a big reason a lot of soldiers lived through the war. If we ever find out that there is another medal he is eligible for, you better believe he’s going to get
