High-fidelity simulators are realistic mannequins that can express almost all real patient symptoms including convulsions, bleeding, secretions, vascular access, drug recognition, pupillary responses, and more. They also allow for procedural features such as tracheotomy, defibrillation, catheter insertion and chest tubes. These mannequins are exceptional for students to begin their practices. Then a debriefing session can be utilized so students can identify errors made, analyze their mistakes and learn a better response thus correcting these errors. This approach leads to confidence, competency and in theory real world patient safety. If the complexity of real patient care can be closely mimicked in simulations, then the students can feel more comfortable and self-assured when a difficult situation is presented in clinical practice (Tella, et al., 2014).
