Backwoods Lake Monster Ever since I was old enough to tie my shoes, i’ve been fishing. Unlike most hobbies and interests i’ve had, my interest in fishing only grew as I got older. At age 9, I went on my first commercial fishing tour in northern minnesota and it was one of the best experiences of my life. That being said, when I turned 17 and was offered a trip to canada on a lodge resort off a huge lake, I was all in. The plane I took to the resort was one of those small ones where the passenger was also the copilot, and I was enraptured at the prospect of being taught how to fly a plane like in the movies. When we actually took off, the pilot was quiet and seemed uncomfortable in my presence, but I wasn’t about to squander my chance to learn something so fun.
