In reality they merily spend less than 2 minutes at each inclosure ,they are more interested in keeping the visitors entertained more so then educated .In Fact zoos spend more money on attractions and their visitors then they do the animals or their environments . Most people tend to disagree and say “ zoos help save animals from extinction “ . yes if it wasn't for zoos some of the animals in captivity would be extinct ,but the downside to that is all the abuse they go through . They are never going to be set free and allowed to build their numbers up naturally like they would in the wild . Therefore these animals that were close to extinction are in captivity and will never be able to hold any value in their natural habitat …show more content…
Most captive bred animals especially larger breeds become obese and form arthritis and die at a extremely premature age . When if they would have been placed back into the wild they would have lived for much much longer . Zoos also use artificial insemination to increase their chances of a successful breeding, but this often leads to dead fetuses and infections . The percentages of artificial inseminations being successful are extremely low and are often painful for the mother
