Are Pit-Bulls an overly vicious breed or are they just misunderstood by today's American society?

When you see a Pit bull, what is the first thing that goes through your mind? For some, it is a sense of fear and for others it is the thought that this breed is misunderstood. Have you ever stopped and thought about if the Pit bull breed is really a vicious breed, or are they just misinterpreted due to the reputation that others have given them along with the many myths that are attached to them? What about the owners of these precious animals? Do you ever think that they are the reason that their Pit bull may be a vicious dog? Many times people speculate too much

I have 4 Pit Bulls of my own as well as two children. I have never had any of my Pit Bulls show any aggression towards my children or to anyone that has come to my house, whether they know them or not. I have had all of my American Pit Bull Terriers since they were puppies, approximately six weeks old, and they are all registered as American Pit Bull Terriers and registered under ADBA(American Dog Breeders Association). There are so many comments and statements made about American Pit Bull Terriers that have caused people to really fear and dislike the breed altogether. On a positive note however, over half of the comments and assumptions are not true. There are many assumptions as well as articles about how an American Pit Bull Terrier has a locking jaw that does not open once it is clamped down on something. This statement and assumption is false. Researchers have conducted research and proven that the jaw of an American Pit Bull Terrier works the same as any other breed of dog. Another misleading statement is that most Pit Bulls are owned by criminals and are used for fighting. This is also very false. If you recall, the kids movie “The Little Rascals”, there was a Pit Bull who played the role as Petey. Also, Hellen Keller had an American Pit Bull Terrier as well as Madonna, Brad Pitt, Earl Holliman, and many other well known celebrities and historical
