As of the ASPCA’s statistics in beginning of 2015, up to 2,800 Pit Bulls are euthanized every single day just for being seen as a dangerous breed of dog. New laws for BSL (Breed Specific Legislation) have started coming out all over the world, creating strict bans on the lives of these animals. A recent case is the Montreal BSL case where a court ruled that any stray Pit Bulls are immediately sent to a veterinarian for euthanization and anyone who owns a Pit Bull has to muzzle it if they are to walk it in the neighborhood. The advertisement uses a picture of a Pit Bull puppy to show the innocence of the breed and uses wording to explain how the puppy had been abused and abandoned but is now loved by its new family. The advertisement shows the innocence of the dog while giving information on his life stories. Pit Bulls are a breed of dog that is highly recognized as dangerous because of past cases of violence involve the dog. Most of this is due to the mistreatment of the animal which can happen with any animal. Between Pit Bull attacks and other animals such as horses, a single person is more likely to get kicked by a horse than they are going to get mauled by a Pit Bull. If this advertisement had more of a following in the ASPCA and other dog conservation societies, there would be a change of mindsets. There would be fewer euthanizations, fewer shelter intakes, and more shelter outtakes. Pit Bulls would become the breed of dog that was meant to be loved and not fear. Pit Bulls are not bullies and they never should’ve been placed in that category in the first place. Maybe someday, there will be a lot more cases of dogs that meet the same fate as Porter in the way of finding a forever home that loves them for who they
