Proposition 57 Argument Assignment

I was assigned to make a video that would persuade voters to vote no on proposition 57. Proposition 57 aims to give non-violent prisoners more chances to be eligible for parole, and lessens court sentencing times, in order to reduce overpopulated prisons. My group members were Daisy, Jovan, and Mariana. Together, we interviewed people about our proposition and came up with how we wanted to portray our video. We wanted to make sure our video had all the qualities it needed to be proficient. To be proficient, we needed to follow the artifact assignment which was to create a 30 second campaign ad about your proposition. The ad needs to include the elements of ethos, pathos, and logos in order to thoroughly persuade your audience. I produced work that effectively communicates my message and convinces my audience to think, feel, and vote against my proposition. There were times where people weren’t doing anything because their was not anything to do.. There was a misconception because I think my group didn’t know their roles very well. Everyone didn’t do their jobs when it came to filling out our calendar or group norms. I did those as well and it was frustrating. We also lacked communication because two group members had ADMA as a different period. They would go into class and completely change the video, without consulting other members which would lead in a lot of disagreements. The event went well as far as seeing all the adults and classmates come together in the room. It was interesting to watch adults reactions and see everyone’s final product. Things went a little wrong for my group because the wrong video played, but I wasn’t too upset because it is a learning experience overall. I think this was a good turnout and i’m glad we did this event! The videos made my mom more informed on the propositions, and made it easier for her to vote the next
