In public health, we focus on many terms that affect people's lives negatively or positively. According to Riegelman and Kirkwood from the book Public Health 101, public health is the science of protecting and improving the health community by how they live their lifestyles, how educated people are, and how they can learn to prevent injury. Being able to inform people on how they can protect and improve their lifestyles, education, and injury is a way to create a healthier community. In the textbook Public Health 101, the authors explain many health issues that can lead to diseases and disorders. Some health issues include, smoking, obesity, diabetes, or depression. However, illnesses such as Scoliosis has been around for ages including our current year, 2015. Unfortunately, no cause has been learned, however, Scoliosis is still a common disorder found in all ages most common in children. In addition, there are many reasons to why anyone could have a difficult time getting through their day, and even nights. It could be to lack of sleep, stress, multitasking, boredom, or Scoliosis. All of these can cause fatigue, lack of concentration, and possibly pain. Although all have something in common, scoliosis has many differences.

Scoliosis is a deformity or condition that causes the curvature of the spine(the back bone) to curve more than the normality. People with scoliosis have their curvature shaped as the letters C (one curve) or S (two curves). The way one can know if they have scoliosis is by getting an x-ray done and there will show if there are any mild, moderate or severe curvatures. This curves can be seen on the cervical/neck region, thoracic/rib region, and lumbar/low back region. However, there are a few methods to stop the spine from curving more and medication for back pain and muscle spasms. One way to treat early detected scoliosis is to maintain a steady physical therapy session. Like mentioned by Yang, Lee, and Lee in the article “Effects of consecutive application of stretching, Schroth, and strengthening exercises on Cobb’s angle and the rib hump in an adult with idiopathic scoliosis,” a good stretching program may help reduce back pain, breathing problems, and posture. Another easy way to fix scoliosis is by brace treatment. Brace treatment is used to prevent one from getting surgery and possibly fix the curvature of the spine. It is worn from the chest down to the hip. According to Chalmers, Pedrycz, and Lou from the article “Human Experts’ and a Fuzzy Model's Predictions of Outcomes of Scoliosis Treatment: A Comparative Analysis’, brace treatment is the most commonly no surgical treatment for adolescents with idiopathic scoliosis.
