Every crime was big, crimes such as treason and rebellion were treated like murder or rape. There was not a clear system of crimes, which made finding different levels of punishment for the opposing crime. Queen Elizabeth came up a “wise” idea to solve the problem, which is coming up with the most brutal and cold-blooded crimes for all crimes. Crime as little as stealing can result in public hanging or even burning. Not to say crimes like treason or offenses against the state, people were put into boiling water in front of public as a way of torture. Before death, many prisoners were tortured by the rack, which slowly dislocates their joints, have arrows stuck through their fingers, or put in the “skeffington’s gyves,” which squeezed the body into a crushed lump.” Many prisoners were tortured to death, such painful experience is beyond contents.
