Service dogs are essential in our community, as they aid those who have mental and physical impairment. Working dogs have been around for many years, assisting those with visual, hearing, and mobility disabilities. They also serve those with mental illnesses, seizure disorders, and diabetes. Service dogs can be categorized in terms of guide dogs, hearing dogs, mobility dogs, seizure/alert dogs, psychiatric dogs, autism dogs, wheelchair assistance dogs, and helping those who are in need of therapy and emotional support. Since one’s disability differentiates, it is specifically trained for the one it needs to assist.
Since roughly 13,000 B.C., people in Central Asia took care of dogs located around their campsites ("Where Are Dogs From?" ).
