It is an excellent example of old drama and language for students to study the roots of words from Shakespearean language. In his 55th sonnet, Shakespeare proclaimed that his "powerful rhyme" would be eternal As our language changes due to technology, older forms of English become harder to comprehend. However, the way Shakespeare portrays his characters to relate to us today and the price of sin therefore teaches us a greater lesson through his works.
Shakespeare has made a large influence in media and literature today. Many of the movies, songs and books produced today are all thanks to the vocabulary and plots Shakespeare provided to us through his playwrights. For instance, "She's the Man" is based off of Twelfth Night, "The Lion King" is based off of Hamlet, and "Moby Dick" is based off of Macbeth. Without his playwrights, many of these books/movies wouldn't have existed in modern culture. Therefore, if Shakespeare is relevant enough to appear in today's culture then he is relevant enough to be taught in the classroom.
Although the influence of Shakespeare's playwrights have passed and have been declined in popularity, Shakespeare should not be forgotten over technology or uneducated students. Shakespeare has made a large influence in literature and should be educated to students to earn a better understanding of
