Schools do not need them, students would benefit more without them, colleges rarely focus upon the scores and they can use many other educational ways to pick up the amount of improvement other than the tests. The standardized tests do not measure student achievements as a GPA would, which measures the ups and downs throughout the complete high school experience. One of the main reasons high schools make students take the SAT is for the colleges, however, as years go by—the less colleges really focus on the score, but more on the GPA of the student. The GPA and the transcript are the most important parts to a college application. The loss of standardized tests would encourage students to internally do better, because it would benefit them and their personality if they knew that a single number does not define you.
