In the United States of America, since the terrible attacks on the September 11, 2001 and resulting the war on terrorism, many things, which have happened that has affected the media and country. This discussion includes the economic impact of the terrorism on the social media corporations. Today, the terrorists are using social media for doing the act of terror. Terrorism affects the social media at a large level (Fuchs, 2015). This has some positive impact and some negative impacts on the social media corporations in the country. The media corporations are showing the fake events of the terrorism. This affects the people and reputation of the social media. The terrorism has the negative impact on the work of social media organizations. The terrorist are using the social media for communicating with their partners like social networking sites. The government is taking some restricted steps to control this. This negatively impacts the business of the social media corporations (Howard, 1992). The government has taken the steps to restrict the privacy on the internet. When the media shows the news on the television channels with the coverage and shocking footage, then it has bad impact on the children and older people. It can reduce the ratings of the viewers (Law, 2009). Misinformation and purposeful broadcast of the disinformation in the time of the terrorism event can reduce the ability of the media to report fairly and accurately. The terrorists are using the media for their benefits and media is also using the terrorist attacks for their benefits. Terrorism impacts the social media organizations. It has both positive and negative impact on the social media corporations. By the discussion, it can be concluded that terrorism has more positive economic impacts on the social media corporations than negative impacts. It affects the communication channels and other media. It affects the ability of the media to publish the information in the newspapers (Fuchs, 2015). The social media corporations are increasing their advertising revenues by showing the news of terrorism. The government must take some necessary steps for resolving this. Revenue loss is increasing and even the legal fees for the corporations are increasing for these corporations.
