Cerny is from Macon, Georgia where she attended First Presbyterian Day School from third grade all through high school. In fifth grade, she began playing the French horn. She joined the schools marching band in seventh grade and became the drum major her junior year of high school. Leadership is not about you controlling people. It’s about you serving people and that’s why I think it’s so important that we get people into SGA that have a servant’s heart. And basically, what I want to do is I want to get into SGA and just serve them.”
She currently plays the French horn for the marching band here at UGA, the Redcoats.
Cerny’s roommate, Audrey Becker, a second year public relations major said that if she had to sum up Carine in one word it would be caring.
“We can laugh together and have fun but still have more serious conversations when one of us needs help or advice. She’s such an amazing person,” said Becker.
Zarek Plante, Cerny’s boyfriend, is a first-year public relations major. He believes that Cerny is a leader because of her up-beat and happy personality.
“I’m in Redcoats with her and I’ve seen it first-handl. She’s always more than willing to answer questions and help people out. She’s the farthest from lazy that I’ve ever seen in someone. She is always putting her best foot forward in everything she does,” Plante
