Carriage and other services performed by and on behalf of Air New Zealand Limited ("Air NZ", "we", "our" or "us") are subject to: · conditions and/or information on the E-Ticket, Itinerary, Receipt and Boarding Pass; · Air NZ's Conditions of Carriage · applicable tariffs, fare rules, laws and international conventions; and · Air NZ's oral or written directions This Important Notices document summarises some of the key matters contained in Air NZ's Conditions of Carriage, which you can access at airnewzealand.co.nz or request a copy by phoning 0800-737-000 (NZ freephone) or your local travel agent. In the event of any inconsistency between this document and the Conditions of Carriage, the Conditions of Carriage shall prevail.
1. International Carriage - Notice of Liability Limitations If your journey has a destination or stop in a country other than the one from which you depart, the Montreal Convention or its predecessor the Warsaw Convention may apply to your entire journey. The applicable Convention governs and in most cases limits the liability of airlines for loss of or damage to baggage and delay. Where the Montreal Convention applies to your journey, the applicable limits of liability are as follows: · There are no financial limits for death or bodily injury and we may make an advance payment to meet immediate economic needs of the person entitled to claim compensation; · In the case of destruction, loss of, or damage or delay to your baggage, 1,131 Special Drawing Rights (approximately NZ$2,522) and, if the value of your baggage is greater than this limit, you should inform the carrier at check-in or make sure that it is fully insured prior to travel; · In the case of delay to your journey, 4,694 Special Drawing Rights (approximately NZ$10,470). If your journey also involves carriage by other airlines, you should contact them for information on their Conditions of Carriage and applicable limits of liability. Time limit for action: Any action in court to claim damages must be brought within 2 years from the date of arrival of the aircraft or from the date on which the aircraft ought to have arrived. This notice conforms to the requirements of European Community Regulation (EC) No. 889/2002. 2. Other Important Information for Passengers · Denied boarding, delays and flight cancellations Air NZ is committed to ensuring your journey is safe and on time but there are occasions when things do not go according to plan. We will do our best to keep you informed of any event that will impact on your travel, and will inform you of any alternative arrangements, rights to assistance and/or compensation that may apply. · Minimum check-in and boarding times Your final check-in time for Air NZ flights is noted in your itinerary. Check for any updates to this advice at airnewzealand.co.nz . Your final boarding time for Air NZ flights will be advised at the airport. No liability is accepted for your failure to comply with minimum check-in and/or boarding times. · Baggage limits Checked: Unless purchasing a seat only fare, passengers are usually permitted a free checked baggage allowance, the limit of which may differ by airline, class and/or route. Refer to your itinerary for details. Carry-on baggage: Passengers are usually permitted a free carry-on baggage allowance, the limit of which may differ by airline, class and/or route. Refer to your itinerary for details. Checked baggage · Baggage claims If your baggage has been delayed, damaged or lost, please contact our local baggage services office at the airport for immediate assistance.
