This means working collaboratively with other students to achieve a better result by combining their skills together. This is further proved with Turner el al., 2011 statement “Researchers have found that the most effective learning happens when students learn together”. However, it can be very challenging for an individual to work in a group, as it requires cooperation between every group member for it to be beneficial. One benefit of working in groups is being equally rewarded and judged. When assigned with a group work, student’s are usually assessed and rewarded as a whole not as individuals. This insures that all group members will depend on each other and work collaboratively. Another benefit of working in groups is the ability to break down complex and time consuming tasks into smaller tasks each done by a single group member. This is explained by Turner et al, 2011 “in some cases a group assignment may be able to be broken into distinguishable parts that can then be divided among the group members”. Given that the overall work is well organized and supervised, this can be a very effective and beneficial method of using the group’s ability to multitask. Furthermore, working in groups allows students to share their ideas with their peers and receive different opinion and point of views, which helps students achieve higher understanding of any discussed
