I absolutely do not agree in the matter of forgiving Karl, the sinned SS man. I believe the acts of the SS to be completely inhumane and against the senses of humanity and the divine law. From my experience and moral qualities acquired from being brought up in a chinese family, I was taught that children are the utmost priority to preserve and protect in this world, because they will eventually replace the role of adults to prosper and develop society. I completely disagree with the mass murder of any selective group but one of the most unforgivable crimes of all is the abuse of children. My next point was that Karl still has no respect for the Jews as he arbitrarily selected a Jew to listen to his confession: “I must tell you of this horrible deed-- tell you because... you are a Jew,” (Wiesenthal. 30). This clearly shows that Karl viewed every Jew the same instead of as each unique individual. Therefore my second reason of not forgiving Karl is because albeit he was on his deathbed pleading for forgiveness, he still have not surrendered the actions and ways that the SS took. And that is, dehumanizing Jews. And I believe he was not truly sorry. Finally, my last reason to not forgive Karl is because he only wanted to relieve himself of the guilt but felt no true remorse: “A year since the crime I committed. I have to talk to someone about it, perhaps that will help,” (Wiesenthal. 30). From this, I gathered that he wanted the absolution from any victim only to be able to
