You’ve heard about The Story of the Three Little Pigs where all the pigs live happily ever after in a brick house and the Wolf leaves, but have you heard of the story where the third Pig eats the Wolf? There are many different versions of The Story of the Three Little Pigs. In the story, “The Story of Three Little Pigs” by Frederick Warne & Co, the Wolf runs around blowing down the house of two of the Pigs and eating them, but when he tries to blow down the third house, it doesn’t work. So the Wolf made a plan to trick the Pig into leaving his house so he could eat him. Every time the Wolf and the Pig would plan something, the Pig would somehow outwit the Wolf. Ruthless sounds like an adjective that makes a thing less admirable, but in this story, the adjective ruthless makes the Pig more admirable. “... and in fell the Wolf. And the little Pig put on the cover again in an instant, boiled him up, and ate him for supper…” (25). This shows how ruthless the pig actually is. He knew that the Wolf was going to come through the chimney, so he put a pot and started to boil it. Then, when the Wolf fell in, the Pig closed the lid without even a little sympathy. He also showed no pity while he was eating the Wolf. He acted as if the Wolf was just another average meal. Although the Pig is ruthless, it makes him more admirable.
Most people haven’t heard of this version of The Story of the Three Little Pigs, where the third pig eats the Wolf. The third pig is the most admirable for several reasons. First, he is clever and tricks the Wolf by going to places an hour before the Wolf and him are supposed to meet there, so that he does not come across the ravenous monster. Second, the Pig is very hard-working, which is shown when he builds his own house made of heavy bricks. Third, he is ruthless when he boils up the Wolf and eats him up for supper.
