Marijuana is the most commonly abused drug in the United States and around the world. If the government were to legalize marijuana it would increase the number of marijuana users. In todays, society there are 15.2 million marijuana users, 129 million alcohol users, and 70.9 million tobacco users. Marijuana may be the lowest number of the two, but soon if it is legalized, that number will climb up just as far, and cause addiction for many individuals. Marijuana will not only effect an individual using the drug, but it will also effect their families and the people around them. This drug is a high factor in highway crashes, injuries, and deaths. More than a quarter of drivers that are admitted into the shock trauma center, which is 26.9 percent have been tested positive for marijuana. Reducing marijuana use is important to reducing the nation's health, education, and productivity.
