INTRODUCTION The President of the United States is seen as the face of the country; the leader who has the final say in what happens in office. As this may be true, the job of President is a lot more complex than what we see on the surface. They have a large role to play in the American government. Once they enter office, they are expected to live out the constitutional role of President and exceed all duties the Constitution lays out. Since the creation of the President title, there has always been many services they are tied to during their time in the executive office but some of the executive duties they are to execute are to be Commander in Chief, Chief Executive and Chief Diplomat.

They are to be the head of the United States military, overruling the highest authority of the services. They work with the generals and military personnel to negotiate actions that should be taken if and when they are called to serve. The Commander-In-Chief used to have the final say in what got to happen and the services were obliged to do so. However, after Congress wasn’t informed on US troops being sent to Southeast Asia over the course of many years through the instruction of presidential administrations, Congress passed the War Powers Resolution in 1973 which states that the President is to have their plans approved by Congress before any action can be taken (Chief Powers n.d.). EXPLAIN CHIEF EXECUTIVE A crucial role is for the president to be the chief executive of the executive branch. The second article of the Constitution expects the President to implement and apply the laws that the Legislative branch, specifically Congress, created (Executive Branch 2023). Given this title, the President is to look at laws and proceed to put them into practice.
