Santa Clara University’s performance of Larry Shue’s The Foreigner was a wonderful example of comedy in theatre. The show was only two acts long but was so engaging that it felt as though it went by in mere moments. The first act was a little slow at first, but this can be forgiven due to the need for exposition and character introductions. The actors quickly demonstrated that their characters had depth to them through various little things such as the way they walked, the speed of their movements and the changing tones of their voices. The most intriguing character was certainly the lead role, Charlie. His actor had to first assume the role as his character and then immediately have that character begin to develop his own role as an actor
