The Main Character In Ayn Rand's Anthem

Before we ended the novella Anthem by Ayn Rand, we were informed that the main character, Equality 7-2521, changed his name. His name is now Prometheus. This Greek name is a great representation of our main character and the actions that he took. As described by the article, Old Greek Stories, by James baldwin, “Prometheus...he was always thinking of the future and making things ready for what might happen to-morrow, or next week, or next year, or it may be in a hundred years to come…” As we know from our book, our main character is very adventurous and always has questions for what is to come. Our character is also similar to Prometheus solely because of the story behind what the greek god did. Also, both Prometheus and our character were punished for their actions. Another character that changed their name was Prometheus's wife. Her name was changed to Gaea. According to windowstotheuniverse.org, “Gaea, or Mother Earth, was the great goddess of the early Greeks. She represented the Earth and was worshipped as the universal mother. In Greek mythology, she created the Universe and gave birth to both the first race of gods (the Titans) and the first humans” (anonymous 1). In my opinion this does not apply to the main character's wife at all. She may be starting with a new society, but she has not created a foundation, and if it weren’t for Prometheus she wouldn’t have even gone away to the Forbidden
