Utopian fiction is a genre that portrays a “perfect society” where there is equality, peace, and kindness. Many times technology is used to improve a utopian society, but occasionally ends up in a dystopian society. In both, “The Pedestrian” by Ray Bradbury and “Harrison Bergeron” by Kurt Vonnegut, technology has caused the main characters to live in a dystopian society. In “The Pedestrian” by Ray Bradbury, technology was used to protect the people from crime and violence by keeping them indoors with all the necessities and technology they need. Despite the attempts to form a perfect society, it soon results in a dystopian society. In the story the main character, Leonard Mead, is walking when he notices a police car that stops near him,
