The Supreme Court of the United States is the highest institution of the judicial branch of the U.S. Government. According to Barry Friedman in his article, “Taking Law Seriously”, we must understand the powers of the Supreme Court in order to understand how it effects national policy and law. The U.S. Supreme Court has the power of judicial review; thus, they can handle and determine the constitutionality of a law or executive decision. This power is enacted to settle constitutional debates on issues that require a definite and final decision. Although the Supreme Court sustains a strong power base in the government, there are limitations implemented to deal with any issues that might arise.
