Marcus said in his book, “Getting to a place of comfort can be uncomfortable” A person can do anything if they are determined. Being determined is going to take a person out of their comfort zone, but with resoluteness anyone could make it through. He used this in his life when trying to become a chef. At new restaurants he moved to new positions he had never experienced previously. This made him nervous because Marcus wanted to show how good he was, but it was hard to do with tasks he had never done. In those situations though Marcus asked for training so he could be the best, and when he struggled with it he went early and stayed late to learn to be the best at those tasks. Marcus Samuelsson would not take being less than perfect. His idea of making sure he was perfect took a lot of resoluteness as he had to put in many extra hours and fail before finding success. The big idea Marcus said was, “No matter how big your dreams may seem, dream bigger.” Do not let anyone stand in the way of a person’s dreams and limit their accomplishments, stay resolute and break through every limit. Marcus did this in his life by only working for three star or better restaurants, so he could be the best. After setting this goal he shattered it by then managing a four star restaurant.
