You ask why would I forgive the soldier it's because our religion called Sikhism teaches us that those who have truth as their fast, contentment as their pilgrimage, spiritual wisdom and meditation as their cleansing bath, kindness as their deity, and forgiveness as their chanting beads, they are the most excellent people. In our scripture it also states “Forgiveness is as necessary to life as the food we eat and the air we breathe.” As you can see we are taught to forgive others because it is the positive thing to do. We have to make the negative situation go into a positive situation. Another reason I would have forgiven him is because we do not know if the soldier was being forced to do something violent. The soldier could have done the evil sins because if he did not do what was told to him, his life could have been in danger and could have led to his death.
So as you people can see Theodore M. Hesburgh wrote an article about how we should forgive others for their actions because no matter how big of a sin a someone has done God will still forgive them. So we should look at how God teaches us to forgive others so why shouldn't we. We should learn between what can bring positive thing and negative things in life. I agree because our religion teaches us that as well and it’s from the goodness of your heart. We do not know what the soldier was going through
