The photograph titled “‘Little Saigon’ in Westminster, California” shows Vietnamese shops and other businesses. (Doc 6). Due to the war, Vietnamese immigrants added their culture to the United States in the form of businesses and shops, and contributed to the workforce which helped the United States’ economy. “More than 80 colleges closed their doors yesterday for periods ranging from a day to the remainder of the academic year as thousands of students joined the growing nationwide campus protest against the war in Southeast Asia.” (Doc 5b). Because of the Vietnam War, American college students were spending their days protesting rather than learning, and colleges were closed down. “[The Vietnam War] left America's foreign policy at least in temporary disarray, discrediting the postwar policy of containment and undermining the consensus that supported it.” (Doc 9). The quote explains that the United States wanted to pull away from foreign affairs, and that their policy of containment was discredited. The policy of containment being that the United States were going to stop the spread of Communism. In 1987, an article was published which talked about this very issue. In the article, it read “But the Vietnam experience has given almost all of them a sense of seasoned caution about using American military power without having the broad support of the American people.” (Doc 8). Because of America's foreign affairs with Vietnam, they became cautious about using military power without the support of their
