As far as I can remember, I never wanted for anything. I was fortunate enough to have a two parent household. Every birthday, Christmas, and other major events/holidays were never an upset for me. I couldn’t fathom the idea of not having anything. Most of the homeless in America are children. Yes it’s hard to believe, but we tend to overlook the small things once we gain success or any type of fame. With the year quickly coming to a close all of our major holidays are on its way. All children are “making their list and checking them twice”.
Thanksgiving and Christmas are the major family-oriented holidays. We throw certain objects away and never think twice about our doings. You may ask why I bring this certain topic up, but as fellow young adults we can all make a difference in this community. Just like the amazing Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful committed citizens can change the world. Indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”
The next meeting I will present Operation: Charity. We will ask all surrounding churches and local business to help sponsor our first children “getaway”, by doing so we will set meetings with local pastors and their assisting pastors. The participating churches will donate the food. The businesses will be local owned stores and we will ask for them to sponsor our event.
Yes we will need a great number of objects to make this a huge success. But the true success we are trying to achieve is a smile on every child’s face. Every child should have an amazing day. As an organization we will provide the games and venue for the special day. We will have different game stations with one of our club members manning the station. A space walk, cake walk, musical chairs, sake
