Before reading the Braithwaite's article and chapter 7 in the textbook I thought of shaming offenders as another form of punishment that will result in more negative effects. I was thinking more along the lines of stigmatic shaming not knowing the difference in impact reintegration shaming can have on offenders. In the Braithwaite article it explains the difference between these two forms of shaming. Reintegration shaming communicates the disapproval of their actions but in a respectful why, they treated as a good person who has done a bad deed.
