Benedict Arnold was born in Norwich Connecticut, on January 14, 1741. He was a member of the Sons of Liberty, and he became the general of the Continental Army during the Revolutionary War. He was a war hero, but never received the spotlight. Upset by the lack of recognition, he sneakily switched sides to the British and plotted the surrender of West Point. When people caught on to his plans of betrayal, Arnold avoided capture and eventually made his way to England. Many people speculate that Arnold was wrong for that, he was held at a high authority and was looked at as an important general, although not obtaining enough clout as he had hoped, he dashed on the army. In my opinion, he did betray his fellow men, and it was uncalled for. I don’t think he could be justified in his actions.

Agreeing to a commission from the revolutionary government of Massachusetts, Arnold partnered with a frontiersman from Vermont named Ethan Allen, and Allen’s people to capture the unsuspecting British garrison at Fort Ticonderoga in New York on May 10 of 1775. Later that year, Arnold led a doomed expedition on an agonizing journey from Maine, to Quebec. The purpose of the mission was to group the occupants of Canada behind the Patriot cause, and bare the British government of a northern base from which to mount strikes into the 13 colonies. Early in the battle, Arnold received a wound to his leg and was taken to the back of the battlefield. The fight continued, but failed horribly.
