In an attempt to plead my case, I will start from the beginning. Krystle helped me avoid Cindy this year by stating, “Leslie doesn’t like working with the lower grades.” Hence, the reason I was originally assigned Fourth and Fifth Grades only. I’m tired of Cindy showing her dominance by treating me like her personal doormat. Cindy doesn’t see my value, she doesn’t appreciate me, nor does she give me credit for progress made by students receiving my help. Furthermore, I would be lying if I said that I didn’t go home several times last year questioning why I stayed at Naubuc. I spoke to you last year when Cindy pushed me to my breaking point with Joey, but I digress. I have three sisters who are teachers. None of them understand why I chose the Glastonbury School District (Naubuc), over school districts that offer paraprofessionals higher salaries and more hours. …show more content…
Three years ago when I started at Naubuc, I only knew my daughters’ closest friends. However, I take a significant amount of time to get to know students and understand them, while synchronously supporting them. I advocate for students, encourage students, and genuinely care about them. I approach things differently, which is why students are comfortable with me and open up to me. Suffice to say, it is important for me to enjoy what I do and to feel valued and appreciated. I am happiest when I feel professionally challenged and my job is meaningful. However, I’m frustrated and unmotivated when people treat me like a babysitter. I’m intelligent and I have a 4.0 GPA to prove it. I am optimistic, not naïve. Yes, I only went to college for two years after finishing high school. However, I’m back in college taking accelerated classes to earn B.A. in Child
