The problem is, as the workload from school gets more intense and with more time involved, as do the sports. When you get past thirteen, there is no more recreational league, no more, "Oh, I'm just going to do this for fun". You are faced with the choice, am I going to carry on with this sport or not? We always knew sports were dangerous, but they really are not as dangerous as many make them out to be. But, there still is the insane work and time youth sports takes especially past 13. When arguing that youth sports are too intense, most people say that the pressure it puts on kids and the investment of time and energy is what makes youth spots too intense. However, this is what makes youth sports so great. When you know you did that extra set of reps when no one was looking and then you hit that game winning home run, that gives you genuine self confidence. When you took those extra one hundred jumpers, and then hit a game tying three pointer, that gives you genuine self confidence. I believe that no pain no gain to the extreme is wrong. But, doing 500 pushups gives you pain, but its the good kind. When you are up with your arms feeling sore and barely being able to lift your neck, that is pain. But, its the self affirming kind that lets you know you did well yesterday. Basically, what I'm trying to say is that youth sports are definitely intense. If anyone would tell
