Between rent ($850/month), utilities (on average $50/month), groceries and living expenses ($400-$500/month), and a Metro card (116.50/month), my expenses average to $1,500/month or $18,000/year. Income from Living Voices and other performing gigs go towards savings, classes, travel, or expenses to benefit my career.
While my employers are supportive and encouraging, the best thing I could do is give myself more time to dedicate to my pursuing my career. $5,000 over the course of the 9-month Fellowship would be allocated to covering rent, utilities and groceries. This would give me the opportunity to cut back to 8-12 hours a week nannying. I have taken private coaching sessions at the Shakespeare Forum ($80/sessions) and would take privately there twice a month.
- $2,000 for voice lessons. I have yet to find a teacher. However, I intend to take lessons once a week. Several teachers have been recommended to me (prices range from $45-60/hr)
- $650 for new headshots ($400 for pictures, $150 for make-up, and $100 for printing, and for business cards. These would be taken by Billy Bustamente.)
- $200 would go towards creating acting and singing reels.
- $200 would go towards workshops with various casting
